black banana records - a multi-billion-dollar record company (run by Hamish McFeedback, Chaz Flounder and Cornelius Fireball) whose mandate is to sign only 3-chord punk bands from Nowheresville, BC. Reputed links to organized crime (cattle rustling) have not been proven in a court of law.

All black banana releases (with the exception of the ill-fated Silent Forest Mime Troupe CD, now deleted from the black banana catalogue) are recorded at you make me wanna vomit blood studios, a state-of-the-art facility at a secret location in the Kootenays where they have a vintage-1976 one-speaker tape recorder and a Radio Shack microphone.

"Humoured by all" offers much, much more than only a multiplatinum seller's greatest hits package. TSP has no 'greatest hits', so they thoughtfully included five new tracks instead, which are presumably meant to stay the course. Displaying a generosity toward their fans, as only TSP can do so well, TSP cherry picks two signature titles, "Current Events" and the sing-a-long number "No Mans Land." They then generously fill the rest of the CD with THREE more irresistible cuts when one or two would have easily done the commercial trick. For those of us who enjoy their slippery, slidey love songs about beavers this album will not disappoint.

One act, the Silent Forest Mime Troupe, was dropped from the roster after customers complained that the outfit's CD (Live... A Hush Over Cottonwood Falls, bbr003, out-of-print) was simply a blank CD.

"In hindsight, an audio CD from a mime troupe was probably not the most astute marketing decision," reflected black banana Artists & Repertoire Manager Chaz Flounder, "but it says 'mime troupe' right on the cover -- what were they expecting to hear, buffalo farts*?"

*Chaz here was referring to actual buffalo farts, not the Abilene, Texas country-sludgecore outfit Buffalo Farts, a band much respected and admired by all at black banana records.
